5 Languages of Love

halcyonCloud2036 January 10th, 2022

Relationships can be hard and take a lot of work, but if you are familiar with the 5 languages of love (developed and written by Gary Chapman, Ph.D) it can really help us to better understand how to navigate relationships.

These 5 things are not limited to romantic relationships and can apply to family, friends, work and school, but especially in a new romantic relationship, just having an idea of what your partner's love language is can really help to understand how to connect to them in the way they feel most cared about.

Just in case you are not familiar, I wanted to share the 5 languages of love:

1. Words of affirmation

2. Quality time

3. Receiving gifts

4. Acts of service (doing nice things for the person)

5. Physical touch

It can be helpful to also think about what your own love language is as well as you work through some of the trials of a relationship.

Do you think that knowing love languages is helpful or just another theory that doesn't really matter real life?

Thanks for your insight ❤️

I think it's an interesting theory, although I also think that a lot of people can have all the love languages. But I agree that one takes precedent. It's good to know what your partner's love language is so that you can make sure you're providing that. Especially if it's different to yours, as you might not think to prioritise that, and by providing it for your partner you can make a big difference to how they feel about the relationship. It's basically the best way for you to show your partner that you value them

I agree! I think it can also really help us figure out the best way to truly connect.
