Embrace yourself to love yourself!

Starmedia February 28th, 2021

The journey of self-love involves being patient with ourselves, prioritizing our well-being, exploring ourselves to grow, practicing self-care, developing more compassion and most importantly embracing ourselves the way we are.

Sometimes things get difficult, situations get confusing and out of control and loving oneself becomes harder, which is totally understandable. We all go through different struggles and experiences, so the journey of learning to love oneself can differ from person to person. We all continually change in some way, we learn to find some way to adapt to new situations, but it’s important to realize that each and every flaw or strength deserves to be handled with the same amount of love, every little part of us that makes us who we are deserves love and compassion so that we can truly flourish to be our best self.

Here are some points to keep in mind which can help us in embracing ourselves more to increase our capacity to love ourselves everyday:

  1. Understand and remember it is okay to make mistakes, big or small. Life moves forward and so it's healthy for us to choose to move forward!

  2. Working on improving our well-being is not selfish but is a necessity. (Exercising, eating well, getting enough sleep etc.…focus on one step at a time! ^^ )

  3. Turning the inner critic into our inner coach is all about minimizing (or stopping) negative self-talk and focusing more on actions to be taken.

  4. Reminding ourselves that letting go can take some time, effort and patience is important. ( Also, holding onto anger, frustration and sadness can be more hurtful and does no good for anyone.)

  5. Spend time on “ healthy feel good activities” and learn what activities make us feel the best.

  6. Realize that Self-Love is not about instant gratification but is a lifelong journey, and it is okay to explore it at our own pace. The more we practice, the more we get better at it.

Let’s all remember it’s okay, natural and healthy to have parts of us we need to work on, self-love is the realization that it’s okay to be imperfect (nobody is perfect!) and as long as we are kind, compassionate and patient with ourselves, we can grow to be whoever we want to be. So, whenever you work on the part of yourself you want to improve, do it with love!

I have two questions for all of you!

  • Name one aspect of yourself that you want to work on with more love?
  • Write a loving, kind, and gentle note to yourself, telling and reminding yourself to embrace yourself the way you are!

Let us know your thoughts and answers below in this thread. Red heart

Make sure to tag those who need to remember to love and embrace themselves more! Red heart

@Starmedia Thank you for this wonderful post!

Name one aspect of yourself that you want to work on with more love?

I want to work on being kinder to myself. I want to remind myself that I am my own worst critic, that no one is as hard on me as I am on myself.

Write a loving, kind, and gentle note to yourself, telling and reminding yourself to embrace yourself the way you are!

You are kind, you are patient, you are compassionate and you are loved! heart
