Boundaries and Self-Care

VerseArt February 27th, 2021

Hello, Everyone! Hope you are doing great.

Welcome to the Day 5 of the "Self-Love in Abundance" Event.

Setting boundaries is a very important practice to take care of yourself. Maintaining boundaries can be tough at times but prioritizing your health above everything else is important as well. It can include both the personal and professional environment. If you know a certain task or person is capable of compromising your health, say NO.

“Don't give so much that you get empty inside.”

Taking care of yourself includes maintaining distance from things that could hurt you. Do not sacrifice yourself for anything that isn’t worth it. Draw an arbitrary line to define what you consider as a sacrifice and as selfish. This will help you maintain the boundaries without crossing any lines.

“You can’t pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first.”

@VerseArt

Hi!

Can you give an example of setting boundaries in your life?

Yes, actually. My closest friend is rather protective of me (and admittedly, I've proven him right countless times as to why an eye ought to be kept on me), so he has me check in with him every day. Sometimes, though, I want my alone time, so I let him know ahead of time, "I'm going to take x amount of days off; will you be okay if I don't check in during that time frame?" As long as I can prove to him that I'll be okay, he allows me to take that time off from sending him signs that I'm still around, which allows me to recuperate and have time to myself.

Thanks for the discussion! smiley

Hello @TheAutumnWitch

That is a great example and a very efficient way to take care of someone while maintaining boundaries. Your friend sounds like a really nice person. You are lucky to have him heart
