Healthy living helps me climb my beanstalk

...See more I must admit, one of the things I’ve struggled most with in life is stuckness. By stuckness, I am referring to a complete and total non functioning in life. Unable to work towards my goals, knowing what to do to get better, but just, for some reason, not being able to do it. I was stuck at the bottom of my beanstalk. So how did I take my first tender step, trying to move up? The step wasn’t to hoist myself to the next leaf on my stalk, no, it was much smaller than that. It was more of a, standing up on the leaf I was already on. And then taking a step towards the stalk, wrapping my arms around it to steady myself. And finally, I could swing my leg to the next leaf and prop myself on another level. What is this a metaphor for? Each tiny, little movement I make, is a small habit of healthy living. Creating healthy sleep patterns through sleep hygiene, fueling my body with nutritious meals to sustain my energy, taking a short walk outside & breathing in fresh air, doing a stream of consciousness journal entry. It’s revolutionary how much of an impact these “small” habits can make. I tell my story as an offering of encouragement. It didn’t happen overnight- it took time. Each of these self care behaviors created a new way of living which supports my physical, mental, emotional & spiritual health. It feels pretty nice to be up in the air, birds eye view from my beanstalk. QUESTIONS: What kinds of healthy living habits help you to stand up on your leaf? How is the view from your present beanstalk stalk leaf? Or, alternatively, if you’re at the bottom of your beanstalk, what one healthy habit would you like to try today?

Youtube discrimation against Deaf Youtubers

...See more So I had a Youtube channel for 13 years now (2011-present). Up until this fall I had it on private but I wanted to make a long video of my Planet Coaster 1 theme park (back then there was only one Planet Coaster but now there's two) -which had three lands- Waltville (Fantasy/Magic Kingdom) Roys' Claim (Western) and Lillian's land (No theme)- but I couldn't have all of them in one video, due to the fact I only have "Standard Eligibility feature" which limits me to only 15 mins videos. I'm Deaf in one ear and Hard of Hearing in the other. That's where the problem is If I want to make longer videos aka "Immediate Eligibility " level of videos I need either a)to have a smart phone/cell phone with SMS to get a verification number or b)I can have a phone call. There's 0 options for email to be an option the excuse most people use is "because of Spam bots". Because there's no option for email it's basically discrimination against Deaf Youtubers who might want to make longer videos. I certainly do NOT want to have to use my parents' home phone number to get this one-time call. I have tried everything already-I tried "Free" SMS websites and none of them worked for me. Either the number's already been use, or nothing showed up or "Please use an actual number". Google Voice isn't avaible in Canada unless I had a "business account" I tried contacting Youtube but they just told me to tell feedback. So as a last resort today I tagged on Twitter (I am not calling it X) some disabled Content Creators on Youtube, and in 2 hours after I tagged them on Twitter I got 5 replies for people who could help me. So we will see how that works for me.

...See more Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well. This post is part of the 25 Days of Gratitude, Self-Care, and Personal Growth event at 7 Cups. The pressure to experience joy and create cherished holiday memories can be overwhelming. The holidays can be a difficult time, especially if you spend them without loved ones. Whether you are far from family, lost someone close and loved one, or making conscious choices about your relationships, the holiday season can be daunting. Traditionally speaking, holiday seasons are a time of joy, fun, and celebration but for many, it is a difficult time of the year when they experience heightened feelings of grief, loneliness seasonal depression, or anxiety. But it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t find something to be joyful. There are many ways to create meaningful and personalized holiday traditions that can bring comfort, joy, and a sense of connection, even during challenging times. 1. Revive and honor old traditions that you enjoyed You may have some old traditions that you enjoyed but now you don’t do them anymore due to one or other reasons. But this season, you may rethink bringing some of those old traditions to cherish the memories associated with them. Such attempts can bring a sense of connection and continuity. You can also choose to honor loved ones by creating personalized ornaments to hang on the Christmas tree like photos, and handwritten letters, or volunteer your time to special charities or causes. 2. Cook your favorite meal This one is my personal favorite as cooking your favorite meal is simply therapeutic. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy or a holiday feast, it can be as simple as making your favorite sandwich, toast, or some hot soup. The process of making your meal is calm and relaxing. So, just make an effort to make something for yourself this holiday season. 3. Gift something to yourself Giving gifts to yourself does not make you materialistic or selfish. It just makes you human. The gift can be anything that you like, maybe a book, a cup of coffee, some nature photographs or a meal at your favorite diner. It is one of the ways to celebrate yourself and a reminder that you deserve to feel good about yourself this season as much as anyone else. So, let’s rethink how we spend our time this holiday season. I understand that it is a tough time of the year for you but know that you deserve time to be easy on yourself and try to be gentle and kinder to yourself. Please know the holidays don't have to be a time of sadness or isolation. Create your traditions to find joy, comfort, and a sense of purpose during this holiday season.
