Professional Patient

AffyAvo February 5th, 2016

I came across a blog about how being chronically ill can make one into a professional patient.

I had a hard time with medical leave, not being 'productive' as I wasn't getting anywhere in school, wasn't working and didn't have kids I was taking care of.

I was taking care of me though, and that's an important and difficult job at times. I wish I had seen this during the toughest times when my job was getting diagnosed and then learning to treat my condition.

I hope this can help some of you!

Chanel White is one strong woman, Affy. She is so very right when she says she is a professional patient. It's true Affy, getting a long medical leave can deem or rather qualify us as unproductive employees. Maybe it's because attendance is one of the criterias evaluated when employers look at productivity. It might be a little helpful for us, to perform well and and maximize our time in our respective company, when we are in our healthy or fit moments. That might help to cushion the impact when we take longer medical leave.
