information spill - depression

EmmaE February 3rd, 2021

this is an informative post about depression! i will try my best to keep the points short and consise, so it's easier to read! keep reading to learn a bit more about depression, and some ways to cope heart

what is depression?

- an illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act

what are some symptoms of depression?

- feeling sad or having a depressed mood

- loss of interest or pleasure in activities once enjoyed

- changes in appetite (weight loss or gain unrelated to dieting)

- trouble sleeping or sleeping too much

- loss of energy or increased tiredness

- feeling worthless or guilty

- difficulty thinking, concentrating or making decisions

depression may feel like:

- no pleasure or joy in life

- everything feels hopeless

- harder to concentrate or focus

- no self esteem

ways to cope:

- meet yourself where you are

realize that depression is common. be open, accepting, and loving toward yourself and what you’re going through.

- release your emotions

doing activities such as exercising, listening to music, deep breathing or meditating, writing or drawing it out, talking

- self care

trying to take care of yourself by doing things such as sleeping, eating healthy, doing things that make you happy

- find the good

in almost every situation, there is at least one good thing. try to find it

- do the opposite of what your inner voice suggests

if you can recognize this voice, you can replace it. address each thought and question it. is this really true?

- set small goals and reward yourself

set small, attainable goals. once you've done one small thing, focus on another. this way, you have a list of many tangible achievements. reward yourself and recognize that you have achieved a goal.

- give yourself time

overcoming something such as depression is never easy. if you're ready to get better, i believe that you can. have patience with yourself and allow yourself to want to get better.

remember that no matter how much it may not feel like it, you are not alone. you are loved. you are worth it. you are cared for. you are strong. you can make it out of this.

feel free to add on anything i may have missed, or anything that you feel or has helped you cope!

@AnxiousDaniel2

hi daniel! i'm so glad you'd like to have this post and i hope it was helpful for you, but unfortunately since i'm a teen, i'm unable to send you a message! are you able to copy and paste it from the website into a google doc or your notes or possibly have an adult listener message it to you?

Yeah I could try! If not I’ll write it out word for word somehow or screenshot it.
