The Pursuit of Hopefulness

VerseArt May 26th, 2021

Hello, Everyone! Hope you are doing great.

Welcome to Day 1 of the "Magical Glimmer of Hope" Event. heart

This event is about celebrating the magic of hope. The 4-letter word- Hope carries a lot of happiness, optimism, perseveration, and enthusiasm. It provides a way to feel happy about the present and optimistic about the future. Being hopeful doesn’t necessarily mean living in a bubble of positivity but living without negativity. Having hope means having the courage to see what lies ahead in the future. If you have hope, you never stop looking for the silver lining and there is always a silver lining, even in the worst scenarios. Being hopeful about the future means acknowledging the fact that you did everything you could and now the result, the future, is not in your hands. You can either think about how everything could go wrong or you could have a little hope and think about how it could go your way. Even a tiny little glimmer of hope has the ability to brighten your mind with positivity.

“Let your hopes, not your hurts, shape your future.”

Hope is not a physical quantity that you can count or manage. It is a state of mind. One way to achieve that state of mind is to convert expectations into hopefulness.

For example, instead of saying- I expect to complete this essay before this weekend.

We can say- I hope to finish this essay before this weekend.

In the first case, you are providing a deadline. If you don’t complete the task within the given time frame, you might feel disappointed.

In the second case, you are merely stating a wish. It is not setting you up for any disappointment as it is positive wishful thinking.

Having hope is just like that. Having wishful thinking. It is not about the result or the disappointments. It is about your state of mind when you are having those thoughts. Hope provides you the freedom to have positive thinking.

“Hope lies in dreams, in imagination, and in the courage of those who dare to make dreams into reality.”

Lovely post as always , @VerseArt , thankyouu !!❤

I agree with the difference between setting expectations ,and stating a wish , does make a lot of difference , towards how one would react to the end result of it !

I usually do use the word "Hope" , when I am expressing some deadline or something that I need to do , hope is a very powerful word and we can definitely feel more comforted and at ease with it , instead of putting pressure while setting any expectations and then being afraid of not committing to it ! 😮

Hi. I never thought about hopes vs expectations before. I don't put expectations on myself so much, however this topic made me realize I have pessimistic expectations about things sometimes. For instance I might expect that people will treat me poorly, and that erodes my hope in making friends. I do have hope that I will meet some nice people. So maybe I can work on being better about focusing on that. Thankyou.

Hello @shellofashell heart

Yes, I agree. We do not think about expectations vs hope a lot but once we do, we make a positive change in our thinking which is really amazing. I'm glad that you realized this and are going to be more hopeful in the future.

The word hope can shift your consciousness. One of the words that betrays us is "try".

@VerseArt

yayy this is such an amazing post and i'm super excited for the next parts of the event to come!!

Question: How will you convert your expectations into hopefulness?

i will convert my expectations into hopefulness by making sure i hope for things instead of expecting them! for example with my science homework, instead of expecting that i'll finish it within an hour, i hope that i'll finish it soon!

Hello. Thank you for this thread. It gave me a lot of hope and positivity. I think we should use the word "hope" instead of "expect". What we can do is not get disappointed when something isn't going how it's planed. It's already a lot when we try even when we don't succeed. I really wish everyone can be hopeful and confident. Take care and thank you for reading <3

Yes the word hope is what we all want right now. We use it to start the begining of something new and see it out if we like to but it can't always be a granted. As hope is a positive word and negative word in events usually when there's a light at the end we can always thank hope and others. People who are close to is. We thank and that's hope it's self but I realise sometimes things arnt meant to be. There's always it
