Forum Flagging Reminders

This post is a reminder to the community on how to properly use the forum flag option that you see under every post.

What is the Forum Flag Option?

For the community and the forum flag teams, the forum flag (🏳️) is a symbol used to flag posts that may be violating the site or forum guidelines. As shown in the image below, this symbol appears at the bottom right corner of every post and reply.

How to correctly flag:

When you click on the flag option, a pop-up box appears with two headings: ‘Select a Reason (REQUIRED)' and ‘Additional Details’.

Under Select a Reason (REQUIRED), you will be directed to the drop-down box that contains all of the options that you can flag a post. The options in the drop-down box are displayed below:

We ask anyone using the flag option to be mindful of the forum guidelines and assess to see if the post is violating any of the guidelines. It's okay to be unsure at times, if you think the post could use a review, feel welcome to flag it. If you are using the Other option or even otherwise, please try to fill out the Additional Details section to provide us with more information as to why you are flagging the post.

After clicking Submit, a flag will be generated in the queue and the flag will be reviewed by the forum team to determine the appropriate action to take for the post.

To help with accountability and transparency when it comes to the deletion of posts, we have an ongoing Communicating Forum Post Deletions thread to tag and inform users of why their post was removed based on which forum guideline(s) were violated.

General Reminders When Flagging:

• Forum flags do not substitute for behavioral or user reports that you would possibly wish to send in. For those, please see this.
• Do not mention that you have flagged the post unless it's to the concerned leadership as it violates the following guidelines: unnecessary gossip/triangulation and possible conflict. The forum flag team will handle any issues generated by flags, not the community.
• Please always consult the forum guidelines before flagging a post.
• Please direct users to forum@7cups.com to follow up with any concerns they may have about their posts or anything related to the forums.
