So this is weird

LoneWolf1986 November 28th, 2021

New here. Feel like I'm more geared to offer advice than ask for it. I tend to play therapist but never take my own advice.

I'm 35, female, live in the pnw and I have a lot of issues that prevent me from creating meaningful relationships with people. I'm cynical due to trauma in my life and having unhealthy fundamental relationships growing up.

I have complex ptsd, major depression, social and general anxiety, agoraphobia, and fibromyalgia.

I don't have friends, just doctors that try to help me cope with daily obstacles.

I'm here to connect with other humans. Hoping I find like minded people, but I'm not holding my breath.

Hi! I'm glad to meet you. I'm 48 and live in WV. I also had a messed up childhood. My first boyfriend was abusive. Both of my parents died in 2013. That pushed me onto Effexor where I live today.

I don't have any friends now either, but I'm outgoing and fairly positive in my outlook. If you want to talk about your problems I'd love to listen. If you want to talk about your fandom or something that makes you happy that would be cool too!

Love the cat meme! I'm a cat lover and cat mom. Do you have any pets?

Thanks for replying. I realize my post came off a bit negative. Blah. I'm not great at self expression online. Hope you have a good day.

@irisclara

hey! thank you so much for your post. it's good to meet you! :)

i'm new here, too - this is my first public action on the site! also in my 30s, female, also have major depression (diagnosed) as well as anxiety, agoraphobia, and past trauma. had a really dysfunctional, yet fairly high-functioning, family. have had some terrible boyfriends (and girlfriends) as well. been in therapy, and on zoloft, for...4ish years? after having a pretty serious crisis in my mid 20s. have good days and bad days, breakthroughs and setbacks, just like...everyone, i guess.

i just found out about this site from a podcast, and am really optimistic about how i can use it to potentially feel better and cultivate community. i have some valued irl relationships from high school and college, but ever since moving to a new city alone (at 23) it's been really really hard as my friends from earlier in life have gradually drifted farther away and settled down. zoom can only take you so far, you know? the old "how the eff do you make friends as an adult" thing, with just general life stress (work, finances, - dating??? eugh) making things even harder. i honestly don't feel comfortable around most of the people i interact with on a daily basis. which...is ridiculous, but hey. alienation under capitalism, i guess. plus good old fashioned crippling social anxiety.

anyway. not sure yet if we're "like-minded," but hopeful and excited to connect with you and others on here! do you have any hobbies or passions you wanna talk about? i'm really into books/movies/music, especially arty/indie stuff, lol. hbu?

Hi there. Thanks for the positive reply. I can relate to a lot you said. I also have social anxiety and it can be overwhelming to be around new people. I mostly keep to myself and try to focus on hobbies and my cats who are my everything.

I dig art stuff too. I enjoy tattoo art, abstract work and dark/creepy stuff. I don't read a lot of books but I do read blogs, articles and lots of medical research forums. I'm super into lifting weights as it helps with all my mental and physical sets backs. I wanted to compete professional before 2020.

What kind of books do you like to read? How do you like your new city compared to home?
