Isolation... Everyone seems to lack community

Like many others, I feel alone, isolated. I often wonder if society has always been like this or if it truly is a recent phenomenon. Nostalgic accounts of the old days support the idea of the village community but I'm not sure.

Everyone seems to need someone just to lend a listening ear. It's sad so many of us have no option than online.

What are your thoughts?

From what my Nanna told me people were closer than what they are now. When we moved from communities to high rises and more recently the internet we lost the close friendship groups and even communities we had. For me only one of my neighbors will say hello and that word is about all I can get out of him. There is no community around me and I have just the one friend, I'd honestly give up a lot of the technology I have access to now to live in a community again. I've been isolated for a long time.
