NC Mom finally gets therapy

...See more I've been no contact with my mom and two sisters for about 3 years for a litany of reasons that aren't really relevant to this post. Recently, my mom started therapy because my adult niece (who she raised) moved out and sees her less often. I'm glad that my mom is finally connecting with a therapist. I hope that she's able to heal from the trauma her parents inflicted on her. That was my first thought. My second was hope that she'd come to see the harm she caused me and strive to repair our relationship and reconnect. Then, I realized her going to therapy has nothing to do with me; it's all about my niece growing up and moving out. It hurts so much that the normal process of my niece moving out when she's an adult was more significant than losing me completely. That my niece means so much that just having her move out is traumatic enough to finally convince her to see a therapist, but losing me, seemingly, meant nothing. I don't know what I'm hoping to get out of posting this, I just needed to share how painful this is.
