...See more Hello! I'm FruityFlamingo and I'm from the Mindfulness Support team *waves*! @politeOcean suggested that we team up and start a thread on mindfulness and healthy living... which I thought was a wonderful idea! We would like to discuss the relationship between healthy living and mindfulness and how they support each other. **If you are thinking, "What is Mindfulness? I've never heard of it before!' , don't worry as I have a definition for you.... **"Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. When you're mindful, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance, without judging them good or bad. " -Psychology Today [https://www.psychologytoday.com/basics/mindfulness] **So basically, mindfulness can help you pay special attention to where you are in the present moment, and observe what is happening inside and outside you. There are lots of benefits to mindfulness that have been linked to healthy living! ReachOut [http://au.reachout.com/what-is-mindfulness] says that there is evidence that mindfulness supports and may: - Help to relieve stress - Help to improve sleep - Help manage depression and/or anxiety - Help you to be less angry or moody - Improve memory - Help you learn more easily - Help you to solve problems more easily - Make you happier - Help you to be more emotionally stable - Improve your breathing - Reduce your heart rate - Improve your circulation - Improve your immunity, or - Help you to cope with pain. That's a lot of amazing healthy living benefits. However, it's important to note that mindfulness isn't a quick fix or instant calm! Mindfulness is a practice that takes time and is a constant learning process. Sometimes being mindful may make you realize you are feeling angry, and that can be frustrating. But it means it is working, as you have observed the feeling, and now you have the choice to simply observe or react. This post is just an introduction to mindfulness and healthy living... we would love to hear about your experiences or any questions you may have! Over the next few weeks we will be posting tips and experiences on how mindfulness and healthy living work together. Stay tuned and we would love to hear your experiences! (Also tagging @Pat who may be interested in this project )

...See more Hello Foodies! How are you all ? :) Because we are coming up to the Holiday season, I thought it would be great to start a thread where we could share our favourite holiday dishes! We had a few suggestions on our last forum thread [https://www.7cups.com/forum/THEFOODCATEGORY_90/Storiesofdeliciousfoods_354/FoodieGroupABigHello_33021/] which I will post here as well. We would love to hear about your favourite holiday recipes/foods and what they mean to you .. or any stories or memories you have associated with them. :) The focus here is more on holidays and love, rather than one particular holiday or celebration, but feel free to share what the holidays mean to you. Can't wait to hear your stories and try your recipes! - fruityflamingo :D

...See more Hey everyone, I'm so excited to have found this forum category from @wonderfulMagic99 ! We were hoping to start a foodie/food appreciation group, and it appears there is already one happening, right here! Woohoo! We were hoping to create a foodie group focus on the experience shared by cooking, eating and sharing meals. And also discussing how mindfulness and enjoying each moment can enrich an everyday task (eating!) that we take for granted. Since 7 Cups is an amazing global community, I've found that the people I've spoken to have shared some delicious traditions and variations on dishes and appreciating food. I'd love to be able to continue this conversation to learn and discover more! We are at present organising some exciting things to do with this category- such as group discussions and integration into the new Healthy Living group- and we will keep you posted with all of the news on this thread. A big shout out to @politeOcean93 , @Kallie112358 , @Nadyadj , @faithfulltown7500 , @VC , @NadineH , @Holie and @understandingDrum9823 for your support on the original thread, posted here! [https://www.7cups.com/forum/QuestionsFeedbackIdeasFun_33/Feedback_37/FoodieorFoodAppreciationGroup_32959/] I'm looking forward to meeting you all and hearing all of your ideas! Please feel free to introduce yourself below, with any ideas or thoughts- and of course, you're favourite dish! Also, subscribe to this feed to keep updated on what's cooking in the foodie group... To start, I'll introduce myself! I'm fruityflamingo and I'm from Australia and we are really lucky to have such a brilliant mulitcultural food experience. Growing up it was fantastic being able to try all different cuisines - Thai, Italian, Malaysian, Greek, Arabic, Japanese, French... Vietnamese... the list goes on! My favourite taste sensations at the moment include Pad Thai Chicken (I love the zest of lemon with the crunchiness of the bean sprouts), Arancini balls- the cheesy tomato beautiful texture.... , and for something completely different, I recently discovered a new Ben & Jerrys flavour- Hazed and Confused- which is vanilla and hazelnut icecream with a sort of Nutella liquid down the middle and choc chips... Incredible! Can't wait to meet you ! :D
