...See more Friends, as you all know Depression is one of the worst conditions to live in, no matter which stage of the life you are. I have created this thread to cover what is Depression? stages of Depression, symptoms of Depression, steps to overcome Depression. Depression - There is no one size fit all definition for this, there are many definitions of depression in internet.When you lose the will power to live or fight any illness or even perform your basic routine in life, it is called Depression and when it is due to loss of loved ones - it is Clinical Depression which relatively lasts longer. It is a state of mind where you cant experience happy or sadness and remain indifferent and unresponsive to all the kind of feelings. It makes you feel numb to the external world. Stages of Depression DENIAL - When we are unwilling to accept what has happened, and try to change the situation, not accepting the truth and reality. ANGER - When we are denying and unwilling to accept what has happened to us, we get angry and start hating. BARGAINING - When we realise that our anger cannot change the current situation which we are in, we try to bargain to negoatiate. DEPRESSION - After bargaining, we go into depression once we get to know that the situation can never be the same again, or the lost soul can never be back. ACCEPTANCE - We begin to heal only after accepting the reality. Symptoms of Depression * Loneliness * Loss of appetite * Lack of concentration * Irregular sleep & diet patterns * Mood swings * Suicidal thoughts * Emotional distress * Social isolation and so on Steps to overcome Depression * Keep moving - You can go to a Gym, a Spa, or meet your friends and family, but try to move ahead of that place. Quickly! * Join an NGO/charity, support a noble cause * Do something which you always wanted to do but never done before * Practice Mindfulness and Meditation to calm your mind * Talk to someone * Keep doing something or other to make yourself engaged * and so on. Lastly,I feel Depression is a prison where you are both the prisoner and the jailer, ONLY YOU CAN BAIL YOURSELF OUT !!. Please feel free to comment Have a great life !!
