...See more I have experienced a rare disease involving my boyfriend. He has a genetic disorder called Loeys-Dietz and it is similar to Marfan's Syndrome. It is a connective tissue disease and causes many complications, especially cardiac issues. He has had 3 open-heart surgeries and 4 back surgeries. He also has an artificial aortic root valve. He has 2 titanium rods in his back to prevent extreme scoliosis in which his back turns into a zig zag and his organs get squished together. His tissues are very fragile and can have bleeding issues. He has had surgery on his eyes to fix dual detached retinas. He is allergic to so many medications, especially antibiotics. There is only one antibiotic he can take. He is on blood thinners and a few other medications. With everything that he has been through he still smiles and is always upbeat and positive. I wouldn't want to spend my life with anyone else. I love him so much! Questions for You: Have you heard of Loeys-Dietz? What do you know about it? Do you know anyone with the disease?

...See more Hello everyone! My name is Dylan and this is my first check-in. I was diagnosed with Bipolar a few years back but recently started seeing a prescriber and will soon see a therapist. Been on a new mood stabilizer for a month and hope it continues to get better. I get very overwhelmed and afraid very easily which makes me come across as angry. My fits can be pretty extreme and irrational. It has gotten worse since I stopped abusing narcotics. My boyfriend supports me even though I can fly off the handle. Today hasn't been too bad of a day. Mood has been pretty stable today. Been a rainy day with lots of flooding, but I like rainy and cloudy days a lot. Makes life seem less chaotic and more calm. I look forward to talking with everyone and gaining some insights into the world of Bipolar Disorder.
Diagnosed with AvPD and Co-Dependency

...See more After a few sessions with the new therapist we have both come to the conclusion that I have Avoidant Personality Disorder (AvPD) and Co-Dependency. For those who don't know, AvPD is more than just avoiding unpleasant situations. It is a feeling of inadequacy, social anxiety, and fear of negative evaluation. We went through each diagnostic criteria and I met every one. I am also co-dependent, which is just a fancy word for an addiction to relationships. A lot of symptoms of Co-Dependency blend with AvPD and they effect each other. I am very confident now that I finally have a diagnosis and a treatment plan. I have been hoping to get to this point for so long and I am glad I have gotten here. With so many past therapists, they have been so quick to throw out any type of diagnosis without being thorough. It's nice to have a therapist I am happy with.
