Bad break up
Relationship Stress / by aquaSailboat1671

...See more Hi there! I just came on here to share my break up story and maybe even get some tips on how to recover and how to get over it. Me and my ex boyfriend have been together for almost 5 years. During these years, we saw each other almost daily (except for one year when we were long distance). We did almost everything together. However, we weren't good for each other - emotionally we weren't a match. He was very emotionally unavailable, afraid and unable to recognise and feel his own feelings, and I am a highly emotional person - and I always tried to rely on him for support. My emotions scared him, sometimes even overwhelmed him. For the past year the topic of break up kept popping up, we almost broke up two times. This week, on Tuesday, he finally decided to break it off for good. He told me that he thinks that he is not suited for a relationship right now, that he thinks it's a lot of effort and he can't afford to make it (he's in the last year of uni so major exams are coming up) and that he thinks we'd be better off alone than together. This hurts me very much. I always loved him whole heartedly and never in a million years I would have gave up on him. Rationally I know that his decision is a good one and it's for the best, but I feel very betrayed that he gave up on me and on us and very disappointed that I spent 5 years with someone who wasn't sure on his feelings. For the record, I don't blame him and I can't be mad at him, I understand his reasoning and I thought about doing it, too, but I couldn't give up on someone I loved. Any tips or advice on how to move forward? Thanks a lot ☺️
