Bio
Hi, my name's Hikari and I'm just your everyday 7cups user.
I have diagnosed mild to moderate "cookie-bite" hearing loss. It's when my audiogram shows my hearing loss in the shape of a "U", almost as if someone took a bite out of it. I hear the high pitch and low pitch sounds better so I have issues understanding speech sometimes since speech is more middle tones. I'm waiting for the day I finally get to use hearing aids.
I also have some form of undiagnosed anxiety that I'm guessing might be either GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) or PD (panic disorder). I've dealt with panic attacks ever since the start of the lock down, and I'm guessing the relationship I have with my parents doesn't improve that. I noticed that at first these attacks were unprovoked and happened randomly, but they slowly became triggered. Now they happen when I'm overwhelmed or scared at stores due to COVID or I'm lost in thought about or talk of my own issues regarding my mental health and falling down that pit of insanity I hate getting myself into.
I'm a true blend or my parents, with my father having a hearing loss and my mother diagnosed panic disorder. Despite this, I can't relate to them and they don't allow me to get help for what I deal with. They fear putting me on any medication and they generally believe that I'm perfectly fine still and don't need a doctor.
I love arts and crafts, as well as my pets. I have five dogs and a bird living with me. I like to knit, make friendship bracelets, and doodle or draw on occasion. Distracts me and gives me something to do with my hands. I find all these activities very calming and distracting, so I recommend them to anyone with anxiety or if you simply feel anxious sometimes. I love my friends/acquaintances very much and they're family to me. I miss attending school and hope the pandemic subsides soon this year. It's a time of great sadness as well and I hope we all pull through.
