Healing isn't linear. It's going to be a lot of steps forward and three steps back. But you know what? That's still making progress.

I figured a good icebreaker for the new year, would just be a general check in to see how we all are, and how we coped over the festive & new year period. What was the most exciting thing you did? Hope to chat to some of you guys soon. :)

Coping Techniques

...See more Self harm can seem like a permanent issue to a temporary problem. But worry not! Here, I have gathered some useful coping mechanisms for you to try, if you struggle with self harm. Remember, self harm is nothing to be ashamed of.  * Draw around/on the area you would like to self harm -This can stimulate those urges.  * Write a pros and cons list surrounding self harm, e.g. why you do it, how it makes you feel.  * When you feel in a good place, write a letter describing what you like about yourself. Then read it when you want to harm yourself.  * Message your friends and ask to meet them. The social aspect of life is a good distraction.  * Go outside -Being in touch with nature and releasing your bodies endorphins is healthy for the mind.  * Try some grounding techniques, such as putting your hands in ice cold water, or square breathing.  * Low risk such as punching a pillow, or holding an ice cube until it melts.  Remember, if you are unable to use these and feel like harming yourself, please reach out to a crisis helpline.  🌈These are all positive steps in the right direction, so give it a try! (:
