I come from a 10+ year career in social services, however that is not what motivated me to register to be a listener. I would like to be able to be present, and supportive to someone (or more than one person) who needs a listening ear, instead of looking to me for resources or services - I can just be another human who has had my own uncomfortable life journey and I know how important it is to feel seen and heard. If I can give someone the chance to feel peace when they felt like there was no hope, then this will have been a successful venture for me. I have come to a point where I need to get out of self because of the year I have had. I am open about my trauma, life experiences, and how things have not always gone the way I thought they would, but it does get better eventually.
