***I'm not taking any requests at this time***

My name is Katheryn. I'm a trained active listener, and I would love to listen and support you through the rough time you may be facing. I have a bachelor's degree in sociology and a master's degree in social work. My focus is on learning to accept and understand negative thoughts and feelings instead of giving them power. I also focus on living a life in accordance with our values. I know that many times in life, we can feel hopeless, worthless, or lost. I'm here to be your guide, your cheerleader, you're helping hand along the way. I know that sometimes it feels like life is scary and hard, but I'm here to help you realize your strengths and regain your sense of hope.

I believe that people are mostly good, caring people. I believe in the power of a hug or a kind word, and that life surprises us all, but those surprises don't have to be bad.

Hi Writer Team!

...See more I thought I would create a post in this forum so that we could all get to know each other a little bit better. I love to collaborate on work and find that there are plenty of others out there who teach me new things on a daily basis. I'm eager to get to know you all a bit better. Even though we are writing individual articles, I'd love for us to come together as a team and support each other in the 7 Cups spirit. I thought we could use this space to share what we are working on, support each other, collaborate, and help each other make connections. Share with us: 1. What brought you to this project, specifically the writing team? 2. What kinds of articles are in your wheelhouse? What do you feel like is your specialty, your jam, your niche? 3. What you want to work on for your first article (or what you've already started)? 4. Do you need any support from the team? How can we help?

Getting to Know You & Your Pain/Illness

...See more Thank you so much for taking the time to spend an hour with us. We loved getting to know you. Thank you for making our first support session for chronic pain and/or illness a success. We're so glad you made it!  Each week, there will be challenges following the support session. These are ways for us all to continue thinking about what we walked about in the discussion and our own chronic pain and/or illness through the week. This week, you had two challenges. Firstly was to come and take a look at the forum section for chronic pain and/or illness. Thanks for stopping by!  This week's other challenge is to take some time to research your condition or illness. Take a moment to read about your condition, and then let us know something new or interesting you discovered about yourself. So what did you find out?  Remember to take care of yourself, this week and always. ♥ Listeners and fellow Spoonies, Hiddengrace & @Jaelin

Has anyone been tested for this or even Celiac's? Is anyone here gluten free because due to an intolerance?Has anyone heard about gluten sensitivity with their illness?  What was going gluten free like? Tell me all about it!

Worked Though Depression; Now Back in Therapy
Depression Support / by Katheryn
Last post

...See more Hello everyone. As a member of the depression support group and as a person who has dealt with major depressive disorder and been clinically depressed, I thought it might be interesting to start an AMA. I've never created one before here so I guess now is the time to open up.  I was a victim of emotional abuse and toxic family relationships, and I was in therapy for about 4-5 years. I've been on depression medication and worked through my depression in therapy. It's been about 5 years since I've been in therapy, and I just started going to a new therapist to talk about new issues and old depressive feelings.  You can ask me anything about what I mentioned above, or just anything (within reason) you'd like to ask not relating to the above topic! AMA!

Very helpful!

An understanding and intelligent listener.
Kathryn was empathetic. She gave me practical advice too where it was needed. I would have liked if she delved more into my pain, but I think she recognized that it was better not to...
