Bio
I am a kind, caring, compassionate person who has gone through a lot of trauma and suffer from PTSD. I am a small town rural person so I understand isolation. I am an honorably discharged Sargent from the Air Force serving during the pre womans lib era so I can relate to veterans and woman’s rights. I had a gay extended family that I love dearly and I practice very liberal views. I have been married to a great guy for 42 years but lost both of my children. I love nature and the creatures that reside in it. I especially love dogs, hiking, snowshoeing, knitting and drawing. I am a retired paralegal and published cartoonist. I have a good sense of humor and am happiest if I can make someone smile.

How does one become a listener

...See more I know that I am very new here but have already discovered areas where I could help others. I left a post in the leadership group but the replies seem to be old and I am not real clear as to where I can ask questions. What I do know is my own problems seem less when I can help someone else. Thanks for your assistance. Love Goldendog

Today Was A Good Day

...See more Since I had a good day today I wanted to write something uplifting so you can have a good day too. I had to think real hard to figure out how to pass on the peacefulness that I felt today to the rest of you. So I looked down and saw those big brown soulful eyes looking at me through his white mask of wisdom. Reaching down I scratched his head, his tail gently swished and his pink tongue washed my hand. In brief eye contact he told me this: Mom let them visualize the mountains. Enzo thats a perfect idea! So here is my good day gift to all of you... Close your eyes and picture 14,000 foot mountains that are right in front of you but are still covered in snow. The breeze is light but chilly enough for a light fleece jacket. At your feet you hear the babbling of brook that is fed from the snow melting off of the mountains. As this brook winds around the alpine meadow the beavers take advantage of the shallow narrow water building small lodges for their homes. The smell is of musk as a small herd of elk are grazing below you. The fish are splashing happily as the insects emerge in the growing warmth of the sun. Soon you see a bear emerging from the timber to lap the cool waters of the Arkansas River. There are no other people just you and maybe your dog. May the sound of the Mountain be with you today and give you its peace. *Enzo is my 10 year old golden retriever and my best friend. I live northwest of the highest elevation town in the US at 10,250 feet on the Continental Divide. The brook is the headwaters of the Arkansas River. The creatures frequent our woods. I know that I am blessed to have spent 40 years hiking this gorgeous place and drinking in its beauty. I hope this visualization will help you in your path to healing. It helps me with my PTSD. May God Bless. Love, Goldendog and the real Goldendog Enzo
