Here are some free mental health apps  —

  • USA National Suicide Prevention Hotline:
  • USA warm line directory for non-crisis mental health or emotional issues. Call or text. Warm lines do not contact police:
  • The NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) website where you can find free mental health resources:

No matter what you feel or what you have been told regarding the amount you need to do to "just not feel depressed [insert any other mental illness here]" know that whatever you do for yourself is enough, mental illness can be debilitating, and the fact that you are here shows you are doing the healing work.

I wish for you the world, I wish for you the power to change age old systems of oppression and to heal yourself in the process.

...See more Hello everyone, I'm taking a class on Mental Health History and Treatment, and I would like to share some facts and free resources about how many people also experience mental illness. You are not alone. We are not alone. : D "Mental health is not just mental illness. It is our wellness! Most of us in our lifetimes will experience something that causes a challenge for our mental health - a loss of someone, birth of a child, loss of a job, witnessing a traumatic event, etc. It is important to normalize discussions and options for care around mental health and wellness, and that experiencing a challenge is normal and okay." Fast Facts " 1 in 5 [https://www.samhsa.gov/data/sites/default/files/reports/rpt39443/2021NSDUHFFRRev010323.pdf] U.S. adults experience mental illness each year 1 in 20 [https://www.samhsa.gov/data/sites/default/files/reports/rpt39443/2021NSDUHFFRRev010323.pdf] U.S. adults experience serious mental illness each year 1 in 6 [https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamapediatrics/fullarticle/2724377?guestAccessKey=f689aa19-31f1-481d-878a-6bf83844536a] U.S. youth aged 6-17 experience a mental health disorder each year 50% [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15939837] of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14, and 75% by age 24 Suicide is the 2 [https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/statistics/suicide.shtml]nd leading [https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/statistics/suicide.shtml] cause of death among people aged 10-1 " — NAMI — Mental Health By the Numbers [https://www.nami.org/mhstats#:~:text=The%20Ripple%20Effect%20of%20Mental%20Illness,-PERSON&text=People%20with%20depression%20have%20a,likely%20to%20develop%20these%20conditions.] ------------------------- According to https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/statistics/suicide, "suicide is a Leading Cause of Death in the United States." The reason we don't know this is that it isn't publicized or talked about, the reason suicide isn't studied as much or given as much money as other issues is due to the stigma people have against it. Which, as I have stated in the past, is so pervasive that even research on suicide is negatively affected and not conducted. ...See more *Trigger Warning* — Suicide, suicide resources, discussion of suicide being a taboo topic * * * * * * * * * ***Note: listeners on seven cups are trained to refer actively suicidal members in chats with the requisite resources so that they may receive trained and professional help from volunteers who have been trained specifically in suicide prevention topic and tactics.*** Happy Mental Health Month. There aren't a lot of places or spaces to discuss suicide. I've noticed suicide is a topic that is often taboo even on mental health websites, in MH spaces, and I recently found out that this taboo and stigma even hinders research on suicide. I've seen the really dangerous myth making the rounds again lately that discussing suicide increases suicidal ideation, so I needed to share this information. Preventing discussion of suicide actually is what increases suicide rates, increases the rate of those struggling alone, and it also hinders important suicide research which could help people hurting. Conducted using samples of both adolescents and adults and in general and at-risk populations, none found a statistically significant increase in suicidal ideation in participants as a result of being asked about their suicidal thoughts." - https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/psychological-medicine/article/does-asking-about-suicide-and-related-behaviours-induce-suicidal-ideation-what-is-the-evidence/FCAEE9E5BC840D76CF10AEBECD921AC9 ***Note: listeners on seven cups are trained to refer actively suicidal members in chats with the requisite resources so that they may receive trained and professional help from volunteers who have been trained specifically in suicide prevention topic and tactics.*** The quoted resources for actively suicidal people which 7 cups uses — • Referral Resources • Sexual Assault Hotline United States (574)-254-7473 • Suicide Prevention Lifeline United States. 24/7 hotline for callers in the United States. • 1-800-273-TALK or 1-800-SUICIDE • 1-800-799-4TTY (TTY/TDD) • National Runaway Switchboard United States • Hotline and live chat for runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth. • 1-800-RUNAWAY • Teen Line • teenlineonline.org • US Veterans Crisis Hotline United States • 1-800-273-TALK • US Veterans Online Chat & Info • veteranscrisisline.net • The Trevor Project United States • An American hotline aimed principally at LGBT teenagers. • Crisis Line: 866-488-7386 • Text: 202-304-1200 (M-F 3-10P EST) • The Center to Prevent Youth Violence United States • American anonymous youth violence reporting hotline. • 1-866-SPEAK-UP • Amigos da Vida Brazil • sociedadeamigosdavida.org.br • The Lowdown New Zealand • A New Zealand project aimed at young New Zealanders suffering from depression. • thelowdown.co.nz • Al-Anon / Alateen United States • http://www.al-anon.alateen.org
