August Sharing Circle Script Updates

...See more Hello everyone! In the last while, we have made several additions and changes to the Sharing Circle script. This post is to highlight those changes for both new and experienced hosts. * What is Sharing Circle? - Explanation Since Sharing Circle is open to all members, we often get visited by a lot of new members who might not know what Sharing Circle is and how it works. As a result, we have added a brief explanation at the top of the script that hosts can copy and paste into the room when members enter and are unsure what the room is for and how Sharing Circle works. Please see the explanation below: “Sharing Circle is an hourly session where members can join a queue to get 5-7 minutes to share anything that’s on their mind. While that member is sharing, the rest of the room can send short supportive comments, but not ask questions or interrupt. If you want to know more, you can check out the guidelines here: https://tinyurl.com/SharingCircleGuidelines [https://tinyurl.com/SharingCircleGuidelines]” * New Ice-Breakers! We have added a list of suggested ice-breakers at the bottom of the script that can be used if the queue is empty. These can be a great way to help people feel more comfortable joining the queue to share, or to pass the time between new additions to the queue. Feel free to make up your own ice-breaker too! * Guideline Reminders Similar to the purpose of the Sharing Circle Explanation, we have decided to copy and paste a few of the Sharing Circle guidelines between shares. This helps new members coming into the room have multiple opportunities to get to know what Sharing Circle is all about, and remind returning members of some of the important Sharing Circle guidelines. This should be pasted in between shares, ideally after responses to the previous share and before the next share is introduced. As always, Sharing Circle is a work in progress! If you are a regular participant in Sharing Circle, you will be aware that we start and close each session with the following saying: “Love, give me the grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed; courage to change the things which should be changed; and the Wisdom to distinguish one from the other. Let it be.” Over the past little while, we have heard feedback that this opening and closing mantra may not be to everybody’s taste. We are therefore beginning the process of gathering opinions from the community (you) with a view to possibly make changes to the Sharing Circle and Healthy Habits script and tailor it to the preferences of the community. We have created a survey HERE [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSePQ8PaT-1PiyzmAJvL9tFoSPJ2SWInRU7x60wQqmcHO9DV7g/viewform] to gather preliminary thoughts.
