September 6th ~ 12th - Migraine Awareness Week!

Today is the first day of Migraine Awareness Week!

"Every year we use this week [September 6th - 12th] to raise general awareness of migraine as a serious public health issue and to reduce stigma. ...

Migraine is a complex neurological disorder with no known cause or cure. Unfortunately many people will suffer from migraine for years throughout their life negatively impacting upon their work, family and social lives." [Source].

In honour of Migraine Awareness Week, we propose that migraine sufferers (also known as migraineurs) share their related experiences via the feed and/or forums. This is in order to both raise awareness and connect with others. Other chronic pain sufferers or even carers of those with chronic pain are more than welcome to share their stories too. If you have any questions for those participating about their migraines or chronic pain, perhaps you'd even like to strike up a conversation.

So what can you do for this week?

→ You could do an AMA [Ask Me Anything] post for others to ask you questions about your condition.

→ You can read this Migraine FAQ if you would like to learn more, or take a look at this Migraine Factsheet if you're a migraineur.

→ Take part in the "Blogging for Migraine Awareness Week" series via the feed or here in the forums. It will propose daily questions this week that migraineurs or chronic pain sufferers can answer in order to share their experiences. (The aforementioned tags will be used).

→ Visit the Chronic Pain & Illness section of the forums.

→ If you're an adult member, you can also join the Disability Support group chat room.

I enjoyed reading through the helpful resources you shared! I've struggled with migraines in the past and while they seem to be fairly well managed now, I'm always conscious of the possibility for them to return under periods of stress!
