Introducing our new and improved forum engagement challenge!

...See more Forum Engagement Challenge We are devoted to providing a supportive and inclusive space for all to interact and explore. As part of this mission, we need to evolve and increase awareness to help ensure every user gets what they deserve: a reply to their post. When a user doesn't get responded to in an adequate timeframe, it can leave them feeling disengaged and disappointed. Our forum engagement challenge is a monthly initiative to help ensure every user gets a response as soon as possible.  What is the Forum Engagement challenge? The Forum Engagement Challenge is a monthly campaign where we encourage all members, including Admins, Ambassadors, leaders, and everyone in between, to actively participate in forum discussions. The goal is simple: make 7 meaningful replies within the designated period. By responding promptly to posts, whether it's welcoming new members or contributing to ongoing discussions, we can create a sense of belonging and connection that enriches our community experience. Why Participate? 1. Build Community: Engage with fellow community members to strengthen our community bonds. 2. Support: Show your support by responding to posts promptly and offering assistance where needed. How do I participate? 1. Reply to this thread to confirm your participation. We should all aim to reply to at least 7 different needs reply posts within the month, but the more the merrier! 2. Find your way to the Needs Reply Queue [https://www.7cups.com/forum/7cupsleadership/ForumGuides_2597/HowcanIviewtheneedsreplyqueue_334779/].  3. Decide on a thread which you'd like to reply to. Consider picking one at the top of the list as these users have been waiting the longest.  4. Once you're ready, post a meaningful reply. Ensure you consider their original post and offer opportunities for further discussion. 5. Complete the form [https://forms.gle/ogwZXSg7rF72mcSW8] with a link to the thread you responded to. What do I get for participating? First of all, you get the satisfaction of supporting others. This is a reward which cannot be matched. As a thank you, we'll also award you 25 cheers for each needs reply post you respond to and will include you in our monthly leaderboard. Our monthly forum engagement leaderboard will be posted as part of our forum spotlight [https://www.7cups.com/forum/siteupdates/EventsDiscussions_2666/August2024ForumDiscussionSpotlight_335746/].  So, are you ready to get involved with this initiative during the month of September? ...See more Want to be a forum leader? Welcome to your handbook! Our forum leaders work tirelessly hard to create an engaging, inclusive and supportive forum space for everyone. The term forum leader is an overarching title which sums up all leaders who support with the upkeep of our forums. We'd be delighted to have you on our team and we're confident you'd be a good fit. Step 1: find the perfect community There are over 40 different communities available for you to choose from. You should be familiar with the community you have chosen before you consider applying for a leadership role within it (note: forum supporters can be onboarded provided that they meet the core criteria and have posted recently in their chosen community or have ideas to help develop/improve the community). Click here [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1IT5-e1rKt__CIW61s9Vsrps0kd6DG_GgzIVX6a7e7sc/edit] for a list of our current communities. Not sure which community to pick? Click here  [https://www.7cups.com/forum/7cupsleadership/CommunitiesHelpWanted_2306/WeneedforumleadersCanyouhelp_315021/]to check out the communities which currently have no leadership coverage.  Part 2: find the perfect role Community Leadership Team Project Agent (CLT PA) The Community Leadership Team oversee and support the community specific forum leaders in their roles. Our forum PAs have a specific responsibility which helps keep the forum ticking. This is perfect for leaders who have been on the forum for a substantial amount of time. Click here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/7cupsleadership/CommunitiesHelpWanted_2306/JointheCommunitiesLeadershipTeam_315413/] for more information on joining our communities leadership team. Community Mentor Leader (CML) • Our community mentor leaders lead their respective community and help the community leadership team with planning and delivering events. • Quota/responsibilities: at least 1 discussion/event each month, forum moderation, team meetings/building, supporting new leaders, dashboard upkeep, needs reply posts. Community Mentor (CM) • Our community mentors help CMLs lead the community by creating engaging content and help with moderating their chosen community. • Quota/responsibilities: at least 1 discussion/event each month, 10+ threads OR posts each month within their community, forum moderation, supporting new leaders, needs reply posts. Forum Supporter (FS) • Our forum supporters help their chosen community with engagement and help ensure their chosen community is a safe and inclusive environment for all. • Quota/responsibilities: at least 10+ threads OR posts each month within their community, needs reply posts. Needs Reply team (NRT) • Our needs reply team help ensure everyone gets responded to. Members of this team help to ensure the needs reply queue is regularly cleared. • Quota/responsibilities: at least 10+ needs reply posts each month. Once you have found your ideal role, you will need to ensure you meet the core requirements. You can find the role requirements for each role (with a more detailed breakdown of their responsibilities) here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/7CupsLeadership_188/LeadershipResourcesWhomToContact_2404/UpdatedSubcommunityTrackLeadershipRolesMasterpost2022_289838/]. Step 3: ready to apply? You've made it to the final step! Before you submit your application, have a browse over our frequently asked questions: What happens if I lose my badge because I couldn't meet the 10 post quota? Your badge will automatically be removed if you (FS/CM/NRT) do not meet the 10 post quota. You will be able to contact the forum ambassador/admin and ask for it to be reinstated, or can request it back again here [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd0gEU3q4RfvHrL_4IimnMBuxTCeVCMPDCye_l6keD716BL1A/viewform]. What if I need to go on a self-care break? Self-care breaks are encouraged to ensure we put ourselves and our own wellbeing first. You can have a self-care break up to 3 months at a time before we request that you leave and rejoin the team at a more convenient time. If you are returning from an extended self-care break of 3 months or more, you can contact the forum ambassador/admin who may onboard you after completing the refresher training. The 10 post quota sounds like a lot... The 10 post quota will be achieved as long as you post 10 times within your chosen community. This could be new threads or replies to existing threads (e.g. answering needs reply posts). The CML and CLT PA roles does not have this quota as they have other responsibilities.  Do I have to log into the site every day as a forum leader? No, there is no expectation for you to log in every day. As long as you visit at least once a week and achieve your quota, you're a great fit. It's important to put your own wellbeing first. I want to support more than one community! Forum leaders are able to support up to three different communities before becoming a global community mentor. Once you have settled into your first forum leadership role, you can discuss supporting other communities with the forum ambassador/admin. You will not need to apply again to support other communities if you are already a community specific forum leader. Please feel free to drop me (tommy [http://7cups.com/@tommy]) a message if you have any other questions or queries 💬 ------------------------- Ready to apply? How can I view the needs reply queue?
7 Cups Leadership / by tommy
Last post
August 18th
...See more How can I view the Needs Reply Queue? The Needs Reply Queue is a list of threads which are yet to be responded to. We want every member of our community to feel welcomed, appreciated and included. We can do this by ensuring everyone gets a prompt reply. There are two ways you can access the needs reply queue: one which shows you all needs reply threads for the entire forum and another which shows you the needs reply threads specific to a community.  Forum Needs Reply Queue This is where every thread on the forum without a reply goes irrespective of the community it is posted in. Simple head here [https://www.7cups.com/community/] and click on the "Needs reply" tab: This list starts with the oldest threads at the top, we want to try and ensure everyone gets a reply within 24 hours. Community Specific Needs Reply Queue This is a list of threads which were posted within that community that have not yet been responded to. This is great if you are wanting to help people in an area you are particularly passionate about. Simply head over to the community and click the 'Last active' drop down: You can then change the dropdown to the 'Needs reply' option which will show you the threads that have not had any replies currently. Note: this page will appear blank if all threads have been responded to. Community leaders should check this regularly to support users within their chosen communities/topics. What makes a good needs reply? Whenever someone makes a forum post, they have trusted us with a small part of them. We need to respect this and provide them with a supportive and nurturing environment. We can do this by effective replying: ✔️ Avoid generic replies such as "go you!" or gifs with no text. These could make the original poster think we are simply clearing the queue without considering what they have to say. ✔️ Demonstrate active listening skills if you can - show that you are listening and taking on board what they are saying. ✔️ Encourage discussion - can you ask them any follow up questions or find a way to allow them to consider other eventualities? ✔️ Empathy - take the time to show the user that it's okay to feel the way they do. This helps promote a safe environment. ✔️ Non-judgemental - do not judge or share your own opinions on decisions another person has made. This is often unhelpful and can be upsetting. ✔️ Singpost - would the user benefit from other 7 Cups resources? Threads, communities, teams, projects, group support etc. You can find more tips on effective replying here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/7cupsleadership/TheNeedsReplyTeamProject_781/EffectiveReplying_286362/]. Do you have any other tips which people could consider when responding to needs reply posts? Let us now below 😃

...See more This discussion forms part of our life challenges event. Click here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/siteupdates/EventsDiscussions_2666/August2024getinvolvedwithourlifechallengesevent_333814/] for more information! When life gets a little hard or when exhaustion hits, I find no better enjoyment than sitting down and binge watching a comfort TV show or movie. Something that pulls at all the right heart strings or something that reminds you of better times. This enjoyment is sometimes what gets us through the tough times! I remember when I was much younger going through school and finding things difficult, I often watched my favourite TV show (Waterloo Road) in the evening before bed to settle myself and give me the extra boost of confidence and energy to tackle the next challenge that came my way. What is your comfort TV show or movie? Something that makes you happy, comfortable or at ease. Bonus points for a description as to why it's your favourite!
